New England and Philadelphia finally meet up in the NFL's championship game. It's long overdue. While the Patriots have won two of the last three Super Bowls, the Eagles fell short in their bid to join them in the Big Dance during that time, losing three straight NFC title bouts before routing the Falcons this time around.
New England will be looking to defend its title and become the first team to win three Super Bowls in four seasons since Dallas (1992-95), while the Eagles are making their first appearance since January 1981, when they fell to the Raiders in Super Bowl XV. With the AFC title win over the Steelers, Bill Belichick improved to 9-1 in the postseason to match Vince Lombardi's NFL-best playoff coaching record, while quarterback Tom Brady ran his playoff record to 8-0.
