Chicago Cubs Sosa Could Join Baltimore Orioles Today

BALTIMORE -- The Major League Baseball Commissioner's office is still reviewing the specifics of Sammy Sosa trade to the Orioles. If approved, the deal likely will be announced Wednesday if Sosa passes a physical in Baltimore.

Sosa is expected to arrive in Baltimore late Tuesday night and could be introduced at a formal press conference Wednesday afternoon. The Players Association approved the contract on Monday night, leaving MLB approval and Sosa's physical as the final two hurdles.

Jerry Hairston, the central player in the deal going to the Cubs, passed his physical on Monday afternoon.
Orioles officials still have not commented publicly on the trade, but that likely will change Wednesday when Sosa could be holding up his Orioles jersey -- No. 21 is available -- and officially begin his era in Baltimore.
