CLEVELAND CAVALIERS ANNOUNCE COACHING CHANGE
CLEVELAND – The
Cleveland Cavaliers have announced that Paul Silas has been relieved of his duties as head coach. Assistant coach Brendan Malone will serve as the Cavaliers’ head coach. Cavaliers Owner Dan Gilbert and President and General Manager of Basketball Operations Jim Paxson made the announcement today.
Additionally, assistant coach Stephen Silas was dismissed from the staff. Kenny Natt will remain as an assistant coach.
Silas joined the Cavaliers as the 15th head coach in the team’s history on June 2, 2003. In his two seasons with the Cavs, he compiled a record of 69-77 (.473).
"I believe we needed to make this change to put the Cavaliers in the best position to make the playoffs and make the improvement we believe is possible," stated Cavaliers Owner Dan Gilbert.
