Washington Nationals Second Baseman Jose Vidro Will Have MRI on Elbow
VIERA, Fla., March 18 --
Washington Nationals second baseman Jose Vidro will undergo a magnetic resonance image of his hyper-extended right elbow Friday afternoon, and he expressed concern about whether the injury will prevent him from properly preparing for the season, which opens in 2 61/27 weeks.
"Right now, I am a little worried," Vidro said. "If it's something that's going to have me tied up for a while, I'm worried."
Vidro, who is coming off surgery on his right knee that prematurely ended his 2004 season, has participated sparingly in exhibition games thus far this spring. A switch-hitter who throws right, he extended the elbow while swinging from the left side in a game Saturday against the
Cleveland Indians. He hasn't played since, and has just six at-bats all spring, with one hit and one walk.
