Peoria Ballet will be presenting its 40th Anniversary Gala Performance, Follow Our Footsteps: From Beginning to Balanchine on April 23, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. in the Peoria Civic Center Theater. The performance will include a restaging of Les Sylphides from the ballet's 1965 inaugural performance, new choreography by artistic director Erich Yetter, and the Peoria debut of Valse Fantasie by legendary choreographer George Balanchine. Other pieces presented will be set to the music of John Phillip Sousa, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Frederick Chopin, among others.
Peoria Ballet is one of only 242 companies worldwide authorized to perform Balanchine choreography. A truly elite group of dancers, Peoria Ballet Company is the only Illinois company outside Chicago presenting such an elite caliber of dance arts. Company members will be joined on stage by returning favorite guest artists Jennifer Kronenberg and Carlos Guerra, as well as a select group of Academy students.
