Pearl Jam fans waiting in line to buy concert tickets outside Big Sky Brewery Co. on Saturday morning were given something to help them pass the time: a consent and disclosure form.
As they joined a line at least 50 people deep, ticket buyers were handed clipboards and a one-page form requesting their name, occupation and contact information - all required under federal campaign finance laws because proceeds from the Aug. 29 benefit concert will support Montanans for Tester, a campaign to win current Montana Senate president Jon Tester a seat in the U.S. Senate.
"It seems like kind of an odd mix of business and pleasure," said Keith Stockmann, 31, who arrived at the ticket outlet around 9 a.m. - an hour before tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. - and was just nearing the door by 10:30.
There were 7,000 tickets for sale online, by phone and at other TicketsWest locations in other cities, but Big Sky Brewery Co. is the only location offering tickets in Missoula.
"We sold about 400 tickets from 10 to about 12:30, and that's when the line quit," said Kim Roth, a Big Sky employee. She added that a trickle of people continued to stop by for tickets throughout the afternoon.
Floor tickets, however, sold out about an hour after the doors opened, she said. More>>>
