Police in the Moncton area are warning Rolling Stones fans to be wary of buying fake tickets for an upcoming Labour Day show.
The RCMP there say a tip led to a raid at a home that turned up a template for printing bogus Stones tickets for the sold-out Sept. 3 show at Magnetic Hill.
"The quality of the tickets is very, very poor," said Constable Michel Mercier of Moncton RCMP. "Any person being a bit alert should be able to detect that is a counterfeit."
Mercier says the counterfeits are smoother and thinner and the ink isn't as dark. The real ones are printed on special paper and have secret codes on them so concert officials can identify whether they are legitimate.
The Stones Moncton show could be the largest concert ever held in Atlantic Canada – the site can accommodate about 60,000 people.
"There may be 1,000 tickets on the street right now," said Mercier, who says the RCMP arrested a 46-year-old man. The man, whose name has yet to be released, will appear in court at a later date. More>>>
