University of Georgia students currently registering online for football season tickets already may be tempted to sell those tickets for profit.
After all, students pay only $8 per ticket while alumni must donate hundreds or thousands of dollars simply for the right to purchase the tickets _ $32 per game for the general public.
But UGA officials are putting out an early warning that any students caught scalping tickets will lose their ticket-buying privileges.
This is the first year that UGA students can register online for season tickets, an ongoing process that continues until July 26.
About 18,000 of the 93,000 total tickets are sold to students, according to Kelley Lawrence, student ticket manager.
The athletic association expects to be able to fill season-ticket requests to all returning students, while some new students may have to settle for a split package that usually includes two Southeastern Conference games and one non-conference game.
Alumni and other fans who cannot afford the donations necessary for season tickets also will have an opportunity to purchase tickets online for selected games within the next few weeks.
Students still can sell tickets to other students, Lawrence said, but should not ask for more than the $8 face value. More>>>
