WASHINGTON -- An eclectic lineup of punk, country and ambient musicians will rock the National Mall this September with an anti-war message.
Former Dead Kennedys punk band member Jello Biafra will be the master of ceremony at the Operation Ceasefire concert to be held at the Washington Monument on Sept. 24. Country crooner Steve Earle and Wayne Cramer from '60s radical rockers the MC Five are also scheduled to perform, organizers said.
Concert organizer Eric Hilton said the concert is a chance for like-minded musicians to take their anti-war message to a large audience. Hilton expects 30,000 to 40,000 people to attend, he said.
Commentators, political figures and families of deployed troops are slated to share the stage with the musicians.
The concert is part of a weekend-long series of anti-war events scheduled in the District. Source>>>
