As the nation reels from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida, artists are joining together in an effort to help raise money for the storm's victims.
On September 10th, a Hurricane Katrina Relief Concert will air live on MTV, VH1 and CMT. The concert will take place in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Nashville and feature artists from several musical genres, reports MTV.com.
Already confirmed to appear are Alicia Keys, Dave Matthews Band, David Banner, Green Day, Gretchen Wilson, John Mellencamp, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington, Ludacris, Rob Thomas, and Usher. More artists will be added to the lineup soon.
Proceeds from the show will go to the American Red Cross.
Of the concerts, Judy McGrath, chair and CEO of MTV Networks, said, "In the face of a tragedy of this scope, we simply have to do everything in our power to offer support, comfort and hope to all the people directly impacted by the hurricane. Our goal is to join forces on every medium to get involved, to volunteer, to contribute in any way we can."
