Single-game tickets for Penguins games went on sale on Saturday and fans hoping to see rookie phenom Sidney Crosby snatched up more than 10,000 tickets in the first four hours.
According to team spokesman Tom McMillan, that's more than triple what they normally do on the first day of single-game ticket sales.
Charlotte Smith, of Mt. Lebanon, woke up at 5:30 a.m. to bring her 12-year-old son, Alan, to Mellon Arena to line up for tickets.
They had the first spot in a line of about 25 people as of 9 a.m., one hour before tickets went on sale.
"This is the first time I've (lined up for tickets)," said Alan, a seventh-grader at Mellon Middle School who said he's been a Penguins fan all his life.
He had already picked out five games that he wanted to see. Like others in line, he was disappointed to learn that tickets for the highly-anticipated home opener on Oct. 8 against the Boston Bruins were not going on sale yesterday because the team is still working on selling season tickets.
But even that didn't put too great a damper on his enthusiasm. More>>>
