FINDLAY, Ohio -- Some angry Buckeye football fans appear to be the victims of a ticket scam. Dozens of people tried to buy tickets from an online ticket broker to Saturday's game against Michigan.
Now, the furious Ohio State fans are out of thousands of dollars and are looking for answers, NewsChannel5 partner ONN reported.
And in an interesting development Thursday, the northwestern Ohio ticket seller was nowhere to be found.
Detectives are looking for Mark West, the man at the center of this firestorm. On Thursday, West's family filed a missing persons report.
Police are wondering if West may be the victim of foul play or whether he just took the money and ran.
At least 50 Buckeye backers sent money to West for tickets to the game in Ann Arbor. None of them has received the goods.
Collectively, they are out approximately $36,000. News of West's disappearance drew swift reaction on Thursday.
"Quite frankly, I don't feel sorry for him. Everything he's going through, he brought on himself," said Greg Boring, of Westerville.
A group of Buckeye fans, including Boring, have filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's office regarding the ticket transactions.
As for Mark West, police have been told he suffers from ALS, commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Source>>>
