Whether winners or losers in the USC Ticket Offices Rose Bowl ticket lottery, USC students have strong opinions about ticket scalping.
"Selling your Rose Bowl tickets is being a sell-out to the Trojans ... if you are going to sell your tickets, then dont wear the USC sweatshirt," said Tony Cabrera, a senior majoring in broadcast journalism and a winner of the Rose Bowl ticket lottery.
After receiving the e-mail informing him that he had won, Cabrera said he initially thought he was one of many winners. "After I called my friends, I realized that not a lot of people got tickets. Then I knew how lucky I really was," Cabrera said.
Although the USC Ticket Office declined to comment on ticket allotment, Cabrera said that they told him tickets were given to one out every eight students who entered the lottery. USC Athletic Department officials also declined comment.
Some students who were left out were upset.
"I was pretty livid," said David Garza, a senior majoring in public policy and management. It was shortly after realizing that he lost the lottery, when Garza said he began his search for Rose Bowl tickets.
"First I was trying to find students who won tickets, then I started searching on the Internet on eBay and stubhub, then I turned to people I barely know - pretty much anything that walked and that had tickets," Garza said. More>>>
