Former Twins outfielder Kirby Puckett passed away Monday, a day after suffering a stroke at his home in Arizona. He was 45. The affable Puckett, a fan favorite for 12 years in Minnesota, retired in 1996 when glaucoma robbed him of sight in one eye. The 10-time All-Star was elected to the Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 2001. He was a six-time Gold Glove outfielder, led the league in batting in 1989 (.339) and finished with a .318 batting average and 207 home runs. Aside from his outgoing personality and clubhouse leadership, he is most remembered for hitting a walk-off home run in Game 6 of the 1991 World Series, which the Twins won in seven games. Puckett was the MVP of the ALCS that season and also was an integral part of the Twins 1987 championship team. More>>>
