NASCAR RECAP: LAS VEGAS UAW-Daimler Chrysler 400

Jimmie Johnson got his first victory of the season yesterday in Las Vegas at the UAW-Daimler Chrysler 400 and with the win, assumes the points lead in the Nextel Cup Series. Rookie Kyle Busch posted a strong showing by finishing second followed by his older brother and reigning Nextel Cup Champion Kurt Busch in third. Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Johnson is now 15 points in front of Kurt Busch in the Nextel Cup standings. Greg Biffle is up two spots to third, 97 points back, followed by Jeff Gordon in fourth place, 107 points out. Carl Edwards rounds out the top five in the standings, 117 points behind the leader.
