Known as the “Godfather of Soul,” James Brown has been making legendary music since 1953. While maintaining a grueling touring schedule, he has amassed 800 songs in his repertoire and has thrilled crowds with his furious regimen of spins, drops, and shtick. Brown scored his first Top 10 pop single with “Papa's Got a Brand New Bag,” released in the summer of 1965.

He has had a profound influence on music styles including funk, rock, Afro-pop, disco, and eventually rap. James Brown, known as the ‘hardest working man is show biz', has not only been in the music biz but also has made a guest appearance in “The Blues Brothers” and “Rocky IV” films.

In 1986 Brown was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 1988 he received a Life Time Achievement Award at the 34 th annual Grammy Awards, and in 1993 he received another Lifetime Achievement Award at the fourth annual Rhythm & Blues Foundation Pioneer Awards.
