BATON ROUGE -- Sales of LSU football season tickets are on hold until officials can better determine how many of the seats in the rebuilt west upper deck will be unavailable for the Sept. 3 opener, an LSU official said Tuesday. Herb Vincent, associate athletic director for external affairs, said the school has about 1,400 season tickets available after renewals, but does not want sell them or single-game tickets until they are sure every buyer has a seat
"For precautionary reasons, to make sure we have enough seats for our season-ticket holders, we have not gone on sale with new season tickets," Vincent said. "We want to wait until we get closer to the season and really see progress with the west upper deck -- which it's getting there now -- where we know exactly how many seats are available."
LSU sold all of its season tickets last season, a school record 66,000, of which 64,600 have been renewed, Vincent said.
The first shipment of tickets will be mailed today.
Vincent said he wasn't sure when the school would release the remaining tickets. Officials are closely monitoring the progress of the $60 million project, which began last year.
"We get updates early in the week and re-evaluate from there what our next step will be," he said. More>>>
