New York: Rent's 10th anniversary will be celebrated with a one night only concert that will see the original cast reunited. The concert will take place on April 24, 2006 at the Nederlander Theater at 7pm.
The concert will be followed by a grand celebration at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Tickets begin at $1,000 and include the post performance party. Tickets for the first two rows of the theater will be $25, keeping with a Rent tradition. Proceeds will benefit Friends in Deed, the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation, and New York Theatre Workshop.
Rent opened at the Nederlander on April 29, 1996. The musical earned 10 Tony nominations and took home four. The film version, directed by Chris Columbus and starring most of the original cast is set to be released on November 11, 2005.
Rent is a new spin on the classic opera La Boheme. Set in New York City's East Village, it's an emotionally stirring story of a community of young artists struggling to live and celebrate life.
