Originally a product of Britain's new romantic movement, Depeche Mode went on to become the quintessential electro-pop band of the 1980s. One of the first acts to establish a musical identity based completely around the use of synthesizers, the group began their existence as a bouncy dance-pop outfit but gradually developed a darker, more dramatic sound which ultimately positioned them as one of the most successful alternative bands of their era. Depeche Mode comes to Tampa this Thursday, November 3rd at 8pm.

U.S. Soccer has secured an additional match for the U.S. Men's National Team in 2005 on short notice, allowing the team to travel to Scotland to face the Tartan Army at famed Hampden Park on Saturday, Nov. 12 in Glasgow. The match will be the 20th of the year for the USA and will kickoff in Scotland at 4:00 p.m. GMT. Hampden Park is one of the most storied facilities in Britain, and is the National Stadium of Scotland. Opened in the early 1900s, the stadium hosted a record crowd of 149,415 in 1937 for a Scotland v. England match. They hosted over 130,000 fans at the 1960 European Cup final, a 7-3 win for Real Madrid against Eintracht Frankfurt. The current stadium capacity is 52,000.
"With only one international fixture date next year, this is an excellent opportunity to get our group together as we continue to shape our team for the World Cup," said U.S. Manager Bruce Arena, who is expected to call in a squad made up predominantly of Americans playing in Europe. "Scotland is traditionally a very solid team, and we are looking forward to the game."
Tickets are now available to via an order form available at ussoccer.com. Orders may be placed by fax or mail at a cost of $40 per ticket (plus a $10 fee per order for processing/shipping) via Money Order, Visa and MasterCard through Monday, October 31.
The U.S. has played Scotland five times in their history, holding a lifetime record of just 1-3-1, but hasn't played in Scotland in 53 years. The team's lone match in Scotland came way back on Aug. 30, 1952, when the Tartan Army blanked the U.S. 6-0 in Glasgow. The teams last met in the USA's final preparation match before the 1998 FIFA World Cup, playing to a scoreless draw on May 30, 1998, in Washington, D.C.

Pepsi Arena drops Ticketmaster
SARATOGA SPRINGS -- Saratogians interested in attending events at the Pepsi Arena will have a new resource for getting their tickets to the Albany venue in the near future.
At the end of this month, the 15-year relationship between the Pepsi Arena and Ticketmaster will end, and a new one, with Costa Mesa, Calif.-based company Tickets.com, will begin.
In addition to tickets being made available at the venue box office, by phone and online, a new deal will include them being sold at 20 Capital Region Price Chopper stores.
'Certainly the bulk of tickets will be sold online, but we will be able to accommodate people at our stores,' said Price Chopper spokeswoman Mona Golub. 'We will be more accessible to consumers than had previously been the case,'
The tickets will be sold at the supermarket's guest service counters, which are open approximately 12 hours a day.
The new arrangement will begin the end of October, although there hasn't been a specific date set yet, Golub said.
As of Friday, the Pepsi Arena Web site was still referring patrons to Ticketmaster. More>>>
